Background

The Seattle Shanghai Expats Society (“the Society”) is a relatively new community founded by Xingdi (Cindy) Zhou and her husband Nor Coquillard in September 2017.

They decided on Seattle as their new home and moved here from Shanghai in late 2016. They immediately encountered the “Seattle Freeze”. They met many people but had difficulty making friends. In order to combat the “Freeze”, The Seattle Shanghai Expats Society was formed to assemble those with a connection to Shanghai who are now living in Seattle. The group hopes to provide both a social and intellectual purpose to help members adjust to their life in Seattle as well as to stay current with developments in China.

The group meets once a month (the 2nd of Tuesday) by inviting speakers to talk on the topics that are of interest to the group.
